Before you can start to learn how to use Drupal, you must first install it. And before you install it, you should become a member of the Drupal community.
Get started with Drupal and get ready to:
- Interact with the Drupal community on Drupal [dot] org
- Install Drupal, either in a local environment or on a hosted environment
- Log into and out of your Drupal site
- Identify the difference between the "Front End" and the "Back End" of your site
You do not need to be a programmer or even have a technical background.
You will watch screen casts and slide shows; read text documents; complete quizzes to ensure you are understanding the material; and complete the whole process of getting started with Drupal by following along lesson-by-lesson.
You will proceed sequentially through ~16 lectures (depending on the path you choose) that are grouped into four sections. If you already possess the skills that are taught in one lecture, you are free to skip it and move on to whatever lecture is more suitable.
You should take this course if you are completely new to Drupal and want to be able to set up a fresh installation of Drupal. You may also wish to take this course if you have used other automated options to set up a fresh installation of Drupal and are curious how you could do it on your own.
Upon completion of this course you will have installed Drupal. You will be ready to take other courses to learn things such as how to add content, create menus, create blocks or add users.
Why pay money for a course on creating a Drupal user account and installing Drupal?
You certainly could bang through all of the process on your own. You could probably even use your favorite search engine and find free videos for most of this content. But, from personal experience, I can tell you that the time you will save from having a structured path for getting started will more than cover the money you spent on the course. So, it's your choice. If you prefer the DIY method, then that's fine; I'm not revealing any "secrets" in this course. However, if you prefer a one-stop, comprehensive and accurate resource, then I think you will find that enrolling in this course was a good choice.
